Wait... who's "terminally online"?

Besides using the ad hominem of "bot", detractors will often say their object of attention is "terminally online".

They'll say directly that any opinion you hold that differs from their acceptable opinion is the result of you being "terminally online".

It's too bad for this claim when those opinions predate the internet, sometimes by decades.

It's also strange when the people grasping for this insult then think you've "run away" from the discussion when it took you "too long" to respond... because you weren't online.

But, when you're a statist, you've got to grasp at any straws you can create, since logic and reason aren't working in your favor.

Thank you for reading.
What do you think? Value for value?
If not, that’s OK.

  1. Whenever I see that image, I sit up a little straight. I resemble that more than I care to admit to myself. lol

    1. At least, I will say I don't look at all like that. I have my own issues in the appearance realm.
Plus, I have no chair at my computer, so there's no sitting- slouched or straight- for me.

  2. For certain definitions of "terminally online," I guess I have to say I qualify. I was online A LOT from the early 1990s when public Internet access became practical, and have worked online full-time for more than 25 years now.

That said, I fancy that I can usually tell someone whose entire worldview has been formed from quick clicks to snappy quips, etc., from someone who at least occasionally, you know, reads a book or has a sit-down, face-to-face conversation with someone they haven't known all their life. Most of the people yelling "bot" or "terminally online" seem to be of the former variety.

    1. I agree about those in-duh-viduals.
I also think you have to distinguish time spend online for work from time spent trolling. It's different to work at McDonald's than to be "Stanley" who spends many hours every day hanging around McDonald's because he has no life.
