This is how it feels to be standing against the cheerleading for ICE… to not be excusing them for their crimes. Lonely, but good.
It's lonely, but it's worth it to be on the ethical side.
I can barely wrap my head around the people making excuses, blaming the victim, and pretending that "the law" [sic] and ethics are the same thing. And lying that any of this is Constitutional (if that matters to anyone).
I know I'm not really alone.
I'm seeing others being attacked for not cheering the jackboots, so I'm less alone than I feel I am. I step up to defend them when I can. But it's overwhelmingly one-sided against us, and defending them brings the wrath of the mob down upon me. Which is tiresome.
Even those who know all anti-gun rules are illegal pretend that "immigration" rules are valid. It makes no sense if you expect humans to be consistent and rational- which I don't, but still...
I hate standing with those who, in other situations, want armed government thugs to steal my guns and murder me if I resist, but sometimes you've got to anyway.
Tips are nice.

Lots of people are with you on this.
ReplyDeleteNot CONSISTENTLY with you, but with you.
I'm depressed, but not surprised, to see so many people who should know better making excuses for murderers if those murderers happen to have Very Special Important Shiny Badges with them.
Libertarian thinking has one major flaw.... their thinking that borders are bad or unethical... or "unconstitutional"... and it 100% makes Libertarianism wrong... if you cannot protect your property then you have NOTHING.... The FAILED logic of libertarians is that a country cannot decide who can be in it is outright stupid and COMPLETELY ignores their own logic that you, as an individual DO have that "right" and then turns right around and say's a group of people (country) doesn't have the same "right".....
ReplyDeleteGovernment borders are illegitimate.
DeletePrivate property borders, which you have every right to protect alone or with friends, are legitimate.
And they are not only different things, they are mutually exclusive. You can respect private property rights, or you can enforce government border rules. You can't rationally do both.
Borders can be constitutional, while immigration control obviously isn't. Borders just delineate where one mafia's rules end and another's begin. And the Constitution did seem to want to establish that- although the "borders" are fluid over time.
If you try to "help" someone by "protecting" their private property by telling them how they are allowed to use it, and who they are allowed to invite onto their property, and by kidnapping those they invited onto their property, you have negated their property rights. You are denying that property rights even exist in any meaningful way. You are saying government borders trump private property.
A country can't decide anything, because it is a collective without a mind. Being a collective, it also can't have rights, since rights are individual.
And this current situation shows the flaw. Some individuals forced to fund a government want to have armed government criminals do one thing, some want them to do something else. The two are totally in conflict.
really? they are totally different from each other because you say so? THAT is your flaw... you apply different rules to 2 things that are the same... just because someone convinced you they are different, you have believed it... but they aren't different, they are both the same...
ReplyDeleteWhat proof can you offer that government borders and private property lines are the same things and should be subject to the same rules? And what happens when those "same things" conflict? Which one wins?
DeleteAh, some demonstration proofs of the maxim that Kent (among others) frequently mentions: Politics makes people stupid.
ReplyDeletewho mentioned politics? who ASSUMED something that wasn't even hinted at because they like to project their own flawed thinking onto others to try to skew it to their own inaccurate conclusions? ... not me
DeleteI wouldn't dream of projecting my own flawed thinking onto you. You clearly have no use for thinking, flawed or otherwise.
