"Please..."

There, I fixed it even more. From here.

  1. The NRA is one of the only conservative groups that actually wins court cases consistently. I didn't see any libertarians get the Supreme Court to strike down a 30-year old ban in DC or Chicago.

The NRA is more like the patriots at Lexington and Concord- they're organized, civil, legalistic, and more than willing to resist if necessary. Our ancestors had plans, networks, and organized themselves. What are you doing, outside of your immediate family? When you're on the run and cut off from your prepper retreat by feds, what's your back-up plan?

They say tone down the rhetoric, not the message. The NRA is where you will find the support you guys are overlooking and downplaying. How many of you are convincing the half-hearted and uncertain that you are the good guys? Just assuming they know is hubris.

The press will always portray us as a wild-eyed, frothy-mouthed mob of uncivilized, unsophisticated, anti-intellectual people. The NRA is refusing to play by their rules and showing people how normal we are. What are you guys doing along those lines? How are you getting the truth out to the masses and circumventing the press?

NRA country is where you'll be hiding when it all goes down. When you run out of supplies and are hiding, you will rely on their generosity and protection. This is the pool of trained men and women where you'll be recruiting from.

Just because the NRA isn't as publicly aggressive as you doesn't mean they're pushovers. It just means they're preparing in the quiet background, planning for the long-term.

  2. Really?! How many laws has the NRA gotten overturned? You talk about ONE law for Chicago and it took THIRTY YEARS.... yeah, that's progress right there! in the WRONG direction.

How hard is it to understand "shall not be infringed." ?

  3. Hey, Anon, not sure if you're aware, but the NRA fought Heller:

"The NRA claims to stand for the rights of gun owners. But the most important gun rights case to come before the Supreme Court in 80 years was the Heller case in 2008. The NRA fought like hell to try to prevent it from happening--at least until the very end. The organization will claim that it fought Heller because it wasn't the right test case, or because the makeup of the Court wasn't right. But some close to the case have suggested--plausibly I think--that the organization fought the case in the early stages because it wasn't brought by the NRA, and the group would look foolish if such an important case for gun rights had been initiated by someone other than the NRA. Which is to say that the NRA was more interested in protecting the NRA than in protecting the rights of gun owners."

  4. I am a disgruntled life member of the NRA. I have written them emails over the years and gotten nothing but dismissive replies in return- when they bothered to reply at all.

The NRA has had to be dragged kicking and whining into just about every fight (including Heller)- and has come down on the wrong side of the fight multiple times- ever since the 1934 NFA. "Shall not be infringed" includes full auto guns, does not leave any room for the BATFE or carry permits or "instant checks" or other things the NRA has been enthusiastic about defending, and means that "law enforcement" is the worst enemy of liberty, and not worthy of the NRA's fawning support.

Their best quality is how badly the anti-liberty bigots hate and fear them- thinking they are so "no compromise" when compromising away liberty is what they do best.

Now, they could turn that around in an instant- but they would have to stop putting their insider status above defending liberty. I don't see it happening, but I'd love to be wrong.

  5. Oh, and as far as libertarians begging the Supreme Courtjesters to stop molesting us- most libertarians will just go about owning and carrying weapons rather than pleading with the bad guys to let us do what we have always had a fundamental human right to do regardless of the opinions of Rulers and their tools.
