"I don't believe most statists (those who believe "government" is a legitimate human endeavor) are bad people. I believe they are mostly well-intentioned. I also think they are a bit insane. Or at least in serious denial."
This is the first paragraph of my newest article in The Libertarian Enterprise. Read the rest here.
Those who want you to doubt that anarchy (self-ownership and individual responsibility) is the best, most moral, and ethical way to live among others are asking you to accept that theft, aggression, superstition, and slavery are better.

ReplyDeleteNice job, Kent. When you talk about the complete and utter failure of every type of government that has ever been tried, it reminds me of the argument I like to make to constitutionalists and others who hold the United States as a model government: If even the United States, with its foundations in liberty and its brilliantly crafted Constitution, which was once the freest nation on Earth, can become such a fascist police state so quickly, then there is no hope for any monopolistic government, ever. The United States is the greatest argument against Statism, not for it, because even this allegedly benevolent, freedom-minded, and checked-and-balanced government devolved into a pretty tyrannical government in two centuries.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the good words, guys. It makes it all worthwhile.
