Politics depends on blind spots

(My Eastern New Mexico News column for July 13, 2022)

Everyone has blind spots. Especially when it comes to politics. In fact, I'd say politics is made up of blind spots knitted together with wishful thinking, expressed through legislation designed to violate people you don't the rest...

Thank you for helping support

  1. This is an unrelated topic, but I wondered what you would think about this:

    1. That's interesting. It seems like a good development, unless it inspires the military to go back to conscription to get the bodies they want.

I completely agree with the reasons given for not wanting to join, even though I largely had different reasons, myself. It was long before w0kees took over, obviously.

I remember when they were trying to recruit me. The recruiters acted completely shocked that I didn't respect the military and didn't want to be any part of it. It may have been an act on their part, or it may have been genuine surprise.

I'm perfectly willing to embrace my responsibility as part of the militia, but to be part of the government's military? Never.
