I responded: "Most of the people I know [with regards to this sort of thing] are pretty opposed to politics, so I'm not sure who would take a petition."
The reply: "This isn't exactly politics.. its about voting and using photo ID's to assure that the person voting is the person registered and qualified to vote."
Ummmm....
If a person doesn't want to present photo ID at the polling place, he has the option of not voting. No one is forced to vote nor should they be. But we need to make sure that our elections aren't being decided by foreigners or that people are voting twice or three times. American elections should be decided by qualified Americans alone.

Stop legitimizing the violation of rights by "laws" and other political shenanigans and no one would be interested in voting multiple times. It's only because the political process has been corrupted to "allow" you to vote to violate me that I would ever have any interest in playing the rigged game. Most things should NEVER be subject to a vote. Hold an election only on trivial matters that don't harm anyone either way, but never on things that matter.
And anyone should be allowed to opt out- without abandoning home and family- at any time. Anything else is a tyranny.

What gets me, though, is that this by its very nature is the very epitome of politics. Voting. Trying to stop others from voting. Begging permission from "authorities" and "officials". "Registering" and "qualifying" people to vote by means of a government-issued ID. It stinks of politics through and through. It is nothing but politics of the worst, most divisive kind.
