No, I'm not really talking about getting libertarians to do what I believe they should be doing, I'm talking about literally herding actual felines.
I may not be able to do that, but I sure can lead them around. I can't walk around the house without a herd of cats (OK, there are only 3 of them) following in my wake. And when it's "treat time", there is a stampede.
I wonder what other lessons might be hiding there.

The nature of libertarianism is freedom -- freedom of movement, freedom of thought. That's why not many libertarian authors get great publication sales.
ReplyDeleteAnd, of course, that's why there is virtually no "history of a libertarian government" -- because there IS no libertarian government. Trying to "govern" libertarians would be like your precious little cat herd. The only way to govern them would be to offer treats, and libertarians see through bread and circuses. Sam
I've wondered off and on why there hasn't been a great Libertarian leader to unite Americans with Libertarian sympathies. I now realize it's because the desire to lead others and/or be led by others goes against a Libertarian's basic nature. I'm surpirsed it took me this long to figure it out.
