ReplyDeleteThat 'shall not be infringed.' is interpreted by the power-hungry as allowing the imposition of a multitude of ifs, ors, and buts exceptions by the legislature, the president, the judiciary and even some attorney generals is just further proof that mere words on paper cannot restrain the arrogance of authoritarians. The only thing that can serve as a restraint on power is an equal or superior power in opposition. That all people be armed is a permanent and continual necessity.
