It's that time of the year. The depressing time. Less sunlight; heightened expectations; social pressures; no way to blow off steam. And just behind the curtain, I feel the pressure of the growing police-state closing around .... well, around all of us.
So, instead of whining about it, I am trying to think of ways to, not just keep the liberty I have, but to increase the real, tangible liberty in my life.
Part of that is education. I don't necessarily seek out the information (that would be overwhelming and even more depressing), but I remember that which I run across. Absorb and categorize. The technology of the state is fragile, whether they admit it or not. The more they rely on technology, the more an inventive, creative person can defeat them.
Part of the "plan" is preparing my mind-set. This involves "survival mentality". Prepare for the worst, while hoping for the best. Or the "not so bad" at least.
Cleaning my guns usually helps my mood, too.

I'm sorry to see you have the blahs. Despite the short days (especially here in the PNW), I adore winter.
ReplyDeleteMaybe one thing you didn't mention that might help you is remembering there are others around whose values are largely congruent with yours ... and who can say how many beautiful seeds your excellent blog has dropped into others' minds?
I also take a lot of comfort in the fact that the Soviet experiment failed, and it was ideologically much more pure than the USSA's efforts will ever be.
Thanks for the encouragement. I also love winter. I am a little bummed that there is rarely anything I consider "winter" here. Summer is probably my least favorite season, but they are all good. Events from the past make this a painful time of year for me. I'll get through it again.
ReplyDeleteOh, I see. Well, it happens that I also grok "events from the past" hanging heavy around one ... the passage of time alone can be healing, but for me, to really heal required more.
ReplyDeleteI hope you can work through the pain and find understanding and peace.
